백워드 교육모형의 체육과 적용 가능성 탐색

A Study on the application of backward curriculum to physical education

본 연구의 목적은 백워드 교육과정 모형의 체육과에의 적용 가능성을 탐색해 보 는 것이었다. 백워드 교육과정의 특징과 구조에 대해 알아보고 체육 교육과정과의 관련성을 네 가지 범주에서 살펴보았다. 또한 6학년의 ‘배드민턴형 게임’ 단원을 대 상으로 백워드 적용 설계안을 작성하였다. 체육과 교육과정과 백워드 교육모형의 관 련성에 대해 네 가지 범주에서 탐색해 본 결과, 첫째, 체육과 교육과정과 백워드 교 육모형은 교육이 단순한 지식 전수가 아닌 학생들의 이해의 과정을 통해 이루어진다 는데 그 맥락을 같이 하고 있었다. 둘째, 백워드 교육과정에서 추구하고 있는 공동체 의 규범과 양식에 대한 이해는 체육교육과정에서 추구하고 있는 ‘스포츠 정신과 공 동체 의식’이라는 덕목과 그 맥을 같이 하고 있었다. 셋째, 백 워드 교육과정은 개별 화 수업을 가능하게 하여 학습계획의 실행과 평가 등의 책임을 지는 자기 주도성을 진작시킬 수 있다는 측면에서 개정 체육교육과정에서 강조하고 있는 ‘개인차를 고려 한 수준별 교수학습’을 위한 좋은 모델이 될 수 있다. 넷째, 백워드 교육과정에서 요 구하고 있는 구체적인 평가계획과 다양한 평가 도구는 체육교과의 평가 개선에도 그 시사점을 제공해 줄 수 있다. 아울러 본 연구에서 제시한 ‘배드민턴형 게임’에 대한 백워드 설계는 추후 백워드 교육과정에 대한 실행 연구를 위한 참고자료의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevances between the backward curriculum model and physical education, and to make a sample lesson plan for the backward curriculum-applied P․E classes. To achieve this purpose, the features and structures of the backward curriculum were surveyed, then the relations of the four categories were analysed. First, the backward curriculum model and physical education are combined so that educational goals are fulfilled through the process of student\ s understanding not simple knowledge-transferring. Second, the link of community\ s norms and life-style in the backward curriculum and sportsmanship and community spirit in P․E are explored. Third, the backward curriculum facilitates individualized instruction which makes students take responsibilities in practicing and evaluating their own lesson plan. This can be a good model for P․E. Fourth, the specific evaluation plan and various evaluation tools are emphasized in the backward curriculum give some implications to P․E. The sample design for badminton type games can be a reference for the field studies about the backward curriculum-applied P․E classes.
