Stem was the most suitable for callus induction among leaf, petiole, hypocotyl, and stem explants of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) in MS medium containing 25 combinations of 2,4-D and kinetin. 2,4-D 0.1 mg/l was best for callus induction from four tissue explants and it was revealed that kinetin inhibited callus growth. Successive subculture of survival callus on the MS medium supplemented with NaCl increased the survival rate of callus.
