This study was carried out to investigate the morphological and ecological characters, distribution, cross-fertility, and band difference of peroxidase by isoelectric focusing of P. yedoensis var. nudiflora, and its putative parents P. subhirtella and P. donarium growing at Daeheung temple in Haenam. P. yedoensis distributing from 200m to 250m above sea level showed excessive individual variation and sterility. The morphological and ecological characters of P. yedoensis are intermediated between P. subhirtella and P. donarium. P. subhirtella and P. donarium distribute from 150m to 350m above sea level and from 150 to 900m above sea level, respectively. Flowering date of P. subhirtella, P. donarium, and P. yedoensis were the beginning of April, middle-late of April, and before and after of April 8, respectively. P. donarium showed more excessive variation in floral morphology than P. subhirtella. It is proven that P. yedoensis is interspecific hybrid between P. subhirtella and P. donarium considering the intermediate characters of flower, leaf, and band difference of peroxidase by isoelectric focusing.
