The red tide is a phenomenon where the color of the seawater turns red, light brown and reddish brown due to the mass propagation of phytoplankton or zooplankton. If the red tide expansion pattern can be predicted, such prediction is expected to greatly contribute to decreasing the damages annually caused by the red tide, through conducting preventive tasks in advance and discharging/transferring aquaculture fish before damages are caused by the red tide. Accordingly, in this research, the red tide monitoring technique using unmanned aerial vehicle images is proposed.
