This experiment was conducted to get basic information for sesame breeding program through five varietal diallel cross population. Significant general combining abiligy(GCA) effect was observed in culm length, seed numbers per plant and 1,000 seed weight. Ansan, Danbaek and IS 103 had GCA effect of increasing culm length while B-67 and Yusung decreased it. Positive GCA effect of IS 103 on seed numbers per plant was reconized but negative on 1,000 seed weight and grain yield per plant. Dominant effect was greater than additive effect in culm length and more dominant alleles were involved. Significant dominant effect was observed in capsule numbers per plant, but the contributions of both dominant and recessive alleles were similar. Though dominant effect was observed in seed numbers per plant but dominant alleles were not much concerned. Magnitude of additive and dominant effect were similar in 1,000 seed weight and recessive alleles were much responsible for it than dominant alleles. Significant additive effect was apperared in grain yield per plant with more concerned of recessive alleles.
