Collection and evaluation of Korean red rices Ⅳ. Affinity of Korean red rices with cultivars and foreign red rices based on isozyme polymorphism

In order to test affinity relations among the Korean red rices, Indica and Japonica cultivars, and the foriegn red rices six isozymes esterase, malic enzyme, phosphoglucose isomerase, peroxydase, hexokinase and amylase were analyzed. The long grain Korean red rices showed very similar band patterns with the Chinese red rices from Anhui province and relatively similar band patterns with Indica cultivars in six isozymes. The short grain Korean red rices showed the specific bands in hexokinase isozyme, and showed relativey close affinity with the Japonica cultivars and the red rice Latsibavy from South East Asia. Reactions of the long grain Korean red rices to the six isozymes were almost same, however those of the short grain Korean red rices were variable.
