Callus induction and plant regeneration in ligusticum chuangxiong horts

This study was carried out to investigate for possibility of plant regeneration through somatic embryogenesis in in vitro culture of Ligusticum chuangxiong. Callus was induced from the explants such as leaf primordia, leaf, petiole, immature florets and hypocotyl when treated with quinclorac or 2, 4-D. Frequency of somatic embryo was higher on the callus derived from immature florets, leaf and hypocotyl and, this ratio was increased as combined with auxin and cytokinin, MS medium was proper for both callus and somatic embryo induction. MS medium supplemented with BA or kinetin was effective for shoot development from somatic embryos.
