Two kinds of genetic analysis methods, partitioning method and diallel analysis, were applied to get the information on inheritance of days to flowering in lettuce. In partitioning method done in 1992, the parents used were GL5 as early flowering parent, and Oakleaf as late flowering. In the diallel analysis, two diallel set experiments were used. The experiment of diallel set Ⅰ was done in 1969, and diallel set Ⅱ in 1992. The days to flowering of lettuce was controlled by three genes, designated as Efa, Efb and Efc. The effect of the gene Efa was two times of that of the gene Efb, and the effect of the gene Efb was also two times of that of Efc. Early flowering habit was incomplete dominant close to those of homozygote. The effect of early flowering genes was additive, and the additive effect of the genes was bigger than dominant effect. But the accumulated effect of the genes differed according to their genotypic constitution.
