Cotyledon was better than leaf, stem and root for callus induction and pigment synthesis in the callus cells. Anthocyanin biosynthesis was increased under dark condition when 2,4-D 0.5㎎/ℓ was added. Higher yielding callus cell line(ACL-1) was selected from the induced callus. A protoclone(APL-22) was selected, which grew fast and anthocyanin synthesis was enhanced by three times as compared with that of the ACL-1.
