Digital humanities emerged as an attempt to facilitate humanistic research with the new digital methodologies and to revive the relevance of the humanities by sharing its values and insights through digital media. More importantly, it has enormous potential to innovate humanities education as well as research. New opportunities offered by digital technology spur experimentation for better education at all levels of learning. This paper examines various cases that apply the possibilities of digital technology and the insights of digital humanities to English literature education, and shares the actual results of the experiment done in English literature courses at the university level for four semesters from Fall 2015 through Spring 2017. Following the central tenets of digital humanities, that is, openness, sharing, and collaboration, I encouraged students to implement a wide range of digital projects such as archives, text analysis, geographic information, data visualization, coding, digital storytelling, and artistic creation. Students have experienced the new possibilities of research activities in literary studies while carrying out these digital projects. They also have developed their digital literacy skills along with an understanding of English literature. Above all, they have had the precious experience of feeling the simple joy of achievement in the creative process of doing projects. Experiments will not stop here. If we take full advantage of the potential of new technologies and apply appropriate teaching methods effectively, English literature education will be infinitely enriched in numerous ways.
