이순신 백의종군로의 고증

The historical research of Yi Sun Sin Baekeuijonggun-ro - From Yeosan-gun to Unbong-hyeon-

이순신 백의종군로는 서울 의금부에서 경상도 초계까지 이어지는 긴 노정이었다. 여기서는 편의상 익산 여산에서 남원 운봉까지의 노정만 다루었다. 이 노정은 백의종군 당시의 원형 거리가 108.6㎞ 이었다. 그러나 오늘날 변화된 도로 여건으로 인한 대체로는 원형거리보다 약간 더 먼 114㎞이다. 이순신이 이동한 노정을 오늘날 지명 순서대로 살펴보면, 익산시 여산 동헌, 탄현, 통정, 완주우체국, 전주연탄, 풍남문, 안적교 삼거리, 상관교, 슬치리, 임실휴게소, 말치, 금암교, 사매교차로, 오성휴게소, 폐문교, 이백초등학교, 연재, 남원시 운봉읍 운봉초등학교에 이르는 노선이다. 익산시 여산 동헌부터 남원시 운봉읍 운봉초등학교에 이르는 백의종군로 전 노정은 조선시대 통영대로와 대부분 일치한다.

Yi Sun Sin Baekeuijonggun-ro(白衣從軍路) was a long journey from Uigeumbu(義禁府), Seoul to Chogye-gun, Gyeongsang-do. This just handled the journey From Yeosan-gun to Unbong-hyeon for convenience’sake. It was the original distance was 108.6㎞ in his Baekeuijonggun. However, today, it is generally 114㎞ which is a little bit farther than that of the original distance due to the changed road conditions. If the journey that Yi Sun Sin moved is examined in order of today’s place names, the route is as follow : Yeosan-dongheon at Yeosan-myeon in Iksan-si, Tanhyeon Ridgeway, Tongjeong, Wanju Post Office, Pungnammun of the South Gate of Jeonju, Anjeogkyo samgeori, Sanggwan Bridge, Seulchi-ri, Imsil Resting Place, Malchi Ridgeway, Geuam Bridge, Samae Crossroad, Oseong Resting Place, Pyemun Bridge, Ibaeg Elementary School, Yeonjae Ridgeway, Unbong Elementary School at Unbong-eub in Namwon-si. Baekeuijonggun-ro From Yeosan-dongheon at Yeosan-myeon in Iksan-si to Unbong Elementary School at Unbong-eub in Namwon-si mostly accords with Tongyeongdaero(統營大路) the late of Joseon Dynasty.
