우리말 갈말 바로쓰기의 원칙(原則)

Principles of the Right Usage of Urimal’s Terminology

이 글은 은희철의 전문용어 간이평가표에 대한 분석을 바탕으로 ‘우리 말 갈말 바로쓰기’의 원칙을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 그 6가지 지표 가운데 우리말로 학문하기에 꼭 필요한 것은 의미전달성, 체계성, 개념일치성 세 가지가 꼽힐수 있다. 이 세 가지 조건은 모든 학술어(갈말)가 갖춰야 할 핵심 요소이다. 하지만 우리말 갈말 바로쓰기(만들기)의 첫 번째 원칙은 그 말이 이 세 요건을 갖추지 못했을 ‘모든 갈말을 우리말로 지으라’는 것이다. 둘째는 갈말은 반드시 우리말로 풀이될 수 있어야 한다는 것이고, 셋째는 우리말 갈말은 우리 모두가 함께 나눌수 있어야 한다는 것이다.

This paper is to suggest some principles of the right usage of Korean terminology , based on the analysis of simple terminology checklist made by Eun-Hee Chul. Among the six indicators in the checklist table, it is communicability, systemicity and correspondence between the term and the meaning that are pointed out to be necessary for learning studies in pure Korean language . These three features are the very cores, which can be applied to every academic terminology as a prerequisite. In particular, the first principle to be applied is that newly coined Korean academic terms should be made in pure Korean. The second principle is that newly coined Korean terminology should be explained and/or descripted in pure Korean , while the third one is that newly coined Korean terminology should be easily shared by everyone altogether.
