Effects of carbon and nitrogen sources, cytokinin and antibiotics on corm formation in in vitro culture of pinellia ternata(thunb.) breit

This experiment was carried out to know the factors affecting on corm formation in petiole cultures of Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. The results indicated that sucrose was the most effective carbon source for corm formation and fresh weight of corms was increased as the concentrations of sucrose up to 6%, optimum ratio of ammonium to nitrate was 1 : 3, zeatin was more effective than any other cytokinins and proper concentration was 1-2㎎/ℓ, polyamines such as putrescine and spermine had positive effect on corm enlargement, antibiotics such as carbenicillin, gedacylin and ampicillin stimulated corm fatness as well as antibacterial effect.
