Comparison of characteristics between spontaneous doubled lines and cochicine doubled ones in rice anther culture

To obtain the basic informations for rice anther culture, the variation of agronomic characters between spontaneous doubled lines(SDL) and colchicine doubled lines(CDL) was studied in the A₂ populations derived from three crosses of F₁’s. The segrigation of days to heading and culm length in both SDL and CDL showed similar to normal distribution curves. Average days to heading of CDL was later than SDL, and 68.4% of CDL derived from Milyang 74/Palgongbyeo F₁ hybrids was significantly later than average days to heading of parants. The culm length and panicle length of CDL were shorter than SDL. In SDL of Milyang 74/Palgongbyeo and Dashukei 2/Iri 369, the tall lines more than the average culm length of parants were more segrigated than in CDL, significantly. The variation of panicle number and unhulled rice weight per hill between CDL and SDL was varied according to cross combinations, and the unhulled rice weight per hill of CDL was decresed than SDL. Delay of days to heading, shortening of culm length and panicle length, and reduction of panicle number and unhulled rice weight per hill in CDL were supposed to related with colchicine treatment, selection effect in vitro, and gene competition. The inheritance aspects of resistant to the bacterial leaf blight(BLB) K, race was segregated into 1:1 in both CDL and SDL of Milyang 74/Palgongbyeo and Dashukei 2/Iri 369.
