Several agronomic characters were evaluated among ninety soybean local varieties collected from all over the Kangwon province. Studied characters were flowering days, maturing days, onehundred seed weight, yield, plant height, lodging, leaf color, seed color, flower color, pubescence color, and resistance to viruses, SMV and SMV-N. sixty six (75%) and thirty five (39%) of the local soybeans were intermediated and early maturity types, respectively. One-hundred seed weight was varied from 13. 1g to 50g and yield was also varied from 132.5㎏/10a to 252.5㎏/10a with the average of 202㎏/10a. About two-third of local soybeans(56lines) were intermediated in plant height and none of the lines were resistant to lodging. Most lines showed green leaf color, while some of them were dark of light green. Pod colors were dark brown, brown, and light brown. There were many different types of seed coat colors with mostly black seed(58lines, 64.4%). Red flower and tawny pubescence were observed predominantly over white flower and gray pubescence. All local soybeans showed susceptibility to viruses, SWV and SMV-N. There were significantly prositive correlations between flowering days and maturing days, between maturity and plant height, number of branches, numbers of nods, and number of pods. Seed yield was weakly associated with number of branches and number of pods per plant.
