The purpose of this study is to examine how Lee Sang’s literature was rejected or accepted at the time in a roundabout way by identifying the relationship between Lee Sang and Guinhoe. The contents of this study are summarized as follows. According to the studies of Guinhoe so far, it can be said that there were three Guinhoe, which include Kim Yu-yeong’s Guinhoe, Lee Teajun’s Guinhoe, and Lee Sang’s Guinhoe. Lee Sang was completely excluded from ‘Kim Yu-yeong’s Guinhoe.’ Lee Tea-jun’s Guinhoe just accepted Lee Sang, but considered his literature as “immature” or “abnormal.” Circumstances of Lee Sang’s involvement in Guinhoe and his activities at Guinhoe tell us that he was only passively accommodated in ‘Lee Tea-jun’s Guinhoe’ and stayed in the vicinity of it. By the way, Lee Sang’s literature began to be understood by Kim Gi-rim. In the process of exploring modernism, Kim Gi-rim identified Lee Sang’s poem as an avant-garde of modernism and made it an important argument. Thanks to Kim Gi-rim, Lee Sang plans ‘his own Guinhoe’ which dreams of the establishment and ultimate of modernism. That is to say, Lee Sang tried to formulate Kim Gi-rim’s modernism theory into Guinhoe’s literary ideology through SiwaSoseol and published “Gawoigajeon” in SiwaSoseol, which is read as a work embodying the overcoming will of modernism. However, ‘Lee Sang’s Guinhoe’ was a Guinhoe, which was started but not completed.
