Yi Sun-Sin and Gwon Yul

Both Yi Sun-Sin and Gwon Yul were national heros saved our country in Imjin war. After the seven-years war terminated, Admiral Yi Sun-Sin, General Gwon Yul and Admiral Won Gyun were awarded the highest commendation. But nobody expected these three officers would achieve great victories before the war actually broke out. All these general and admirals were relatively unknown soldier and sailors. Admiral Yi Sun-Sin was born in poor family and studied literature to be a civil service, later decided to be a soldier due to influence of his father-in law. But Gwon Yul was born in wealthy family and studied literature and martial art, and traveled a lot without fulltime job. Once the war occurred, he became a fine army officer and later commanded whole army and navy as a chief-in-commander. Yi Sun-Sin and Gwon Yul were recommended and promoted by You Sung-Yong, then minister of defense and vice prime minister. Yi Sun-Sin and You Sug-Yong were acquainted from childhood and became a lifelong friend, but You Sung-Yong and Gwon Yul never became a friend according to my research they knew each other through their fathers. But as a chief-in-commander, Gwon Yul supported Yi Sun-Sin and gave much help needed when Yi Sun-Sin regain his title and struggle to rebuild his naval fleet. Furthermore, he agreed to admiral s tactical idea for fleet employment and wholeheartedly trust admiral s ability.
