A Revisit to the Relationship of Yi Sun-Sin and Yu Seong-Yong

Friendship between Yi Sun-Sin and Yu Seong-Yong was critical to defeat Japanese invading forces because Admiral Yi s position was fragile. Though Adm. Yi was unbeaten admiral, he was born from ordinary family and his power base was weak. According to my research result, Adm. Yi and Prime Minister Yu were made-in-heaven buddy based on trust and respect. Then vice prime minister and defense minister Yu promoted Yi as Admiral and provided support during Imjin-war period. Without defense minister Yu s recognition and support, our national hero couldn t be made. Wartime prime minister Yu was able and competent man in all concerned area such as performing diplomacy with Ming army and providing logistic support for military operations. Both men were royal to their king and their country and pious to their parents. Both men were the best in their field. Now we know Adm. Yi is the best admiral in world naval history and Prime minister Yu is one of the best prime minister in our history. They helped each other to overcome national catastrophe and eventually succeeded. Here I dare to say Adm. Yi and Prime minister Yu showed us one of the best friendship in our history. Because they had good cause and belief, they could do their best without hesitation for their country and people. And the above mentioned good friendship should be remembered and encouraged.
