A Comparative Studies on Effects of Innovation Activities and Business Environment on Corporate Performance

혁신활동과 경영환경이 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 비교연구-국내 제조업을 중심으로

연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 한국 제조업에서 혁신활동과 경영환경이 기업성과로의 효과를 살펴보는데 있다. 또한, 제조업을 전통제조업 및 첨단제조업으로 구분하여 경영 성과의 차이를 비교한다. 논문구성/논리: 본고의 구성은 다음과 같다. 먼저 제1장에서는 본 연구의 목적을 개관 한다. 제2장에서는 관련 선행연구를 제시하고, 3장과 4장에서 각각 혁신활동과 경영환 경이 어떻게 기업성과에 영향을 주는 지에 대한 분석 모형 및 실증결과를 살펴본다. 제5장에서는 본 연구의 내용을 요약 정리한다. 결과: 분석 결과는 혁신활동과 경영환경이 경영성과에 긍정적인 역할을 한다는 것을 입증하는데, 산업 차이에 따라 결과는 다소 상이하다. 그러므로, 기업의 성과를 높이기 위해서는 내부 역량 확보뿐만 아니라 기업을 둘러싼 경영환경도 고려되어야 한다. 독창성/가치: 한국 제조업 맥락에서 신활동과 경영환경이 기업성과에 복합적으로 영향을 미치는지를 파악한 논문으로 의의가 있으며, 기업 차이의 성격이 성과에 어떻게 영향을 주는지에 대한 이해를 제공한다.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the effects of innovation activities and business environment on corporate performance in the Korean manufacturing industry. In addition, we compare traditional manufacturing and innovative manufacturing from the perspective of corporate performance. Composition: The paper is organized as follows. In Section I, we outline the purpose of this paper. In Section II, we conduct a systematic review of innovation research in domestic and foreign literature. In Sections III & IV, we construct a basic model to show the impact of innovation activities and business environment on firm performance. Section V summarizes and concludes the study. Findings: The results of the analysis demonstrate a positive relationship between i) innovation activities and firm performance, and ii) between business environment performance. However, the results vary somewhat according to industry differences. Therefore, business environment as well as internal capability should be considered to enhance firm performance. Originality/Value: To our knowledge, there are very few studies that examine the multiple effects of innovation activities and business environment on firm performance. We, thus, provide a better understanding of the impact of industry distinctiveness on firm performance.
