Cut flower pollinations were carried out to acertain interspecific fertilization between Gossypium hirsutum L. and G. arboreum L. in controlled environment. In the pollination on cut flowers, pollen germination, pollen tube elongation and ovule development after fertilization were most favored at the condition of 28℃ and 65% relative humidity. Pollen germination and pollen tube growth were accelerated when the stems with pollinated flowers were kept in the solution containing inorganic salts of Beasley’s medium together with 125㎎/ℓ each of glutamine, arginine and proline, and 1.0㎎/ℓ each of NAA and kinetin. Fertilization rate was higher in case of pollinations on the flowers attatched with both corolla and calyx compared with pollinations on the flowers without corolla and calyx.
