Six hundred sixty two random decamers and two 20-mer primers were used for RAPD analysis of the QTLs associated with the growth of rice seedling at 18℃. Of these primers, 74 primers showing polymorphism between an indica cultivar ‘Dular’ and a japonica cultivar ‘Toyohatamochi’ were selected for the molecular genetic map construction. After analyzing multiple band patterns of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products, 85 bands were selected as RAPD markers, which encompassed more than 90% of the rice genome when mapped. A linkage map of the RAPD markers was constructed by analyzing the linkage between the 85 RAPD markers and the 54 known RFLP markers with 94 F₂ populations between ‘Dular’ and ‘Toyohatamochi’. The linkage map covered a total genetic distance of 1419.7cM (centi Morgans) with 10.2cM between markers on average.
