To obtain information on the dynamic and quantitative aspects of diplospory in apomict of Allium tuberosum R. (2n=32) and A. senescens (2n=48), we observed the entire course of female meiosis and embryo-sac development using the clearing-staining-squash method. Archesporial cells were distinguished from nucellar cells. Chromosome threads were observed in pairs at the first-prophase of female meiosis. At the first-metaphase, 32 autobivalents were observed when the ovule length was 0.3mm and 0.35mm long in A. tuberosum R. and A. senescens, respectively. Diplosporous embryo-sac development was also observed in Korean native chinese chive.
