본위 선택에 따른 융합교육의 양태 고찰

A Contrastive Study on the Different Appearance of Convergence Education with Its Change of Major Value

이 글은 융합교육의 본위를 융합과 교육의 두 가지로 나누고, 각각을 본위로 하는 융합교육의 가치구현 양태가 어떻게 다른지를 검토하고 있다. 이를 위해 융합과 교육의 의미와 가치를 중심으로 기존의 견해들을 비판적인 관점에서 살펴봄으로써 논의의 기초로 삼았다. 검토 결과, 융합을 본위로 한 융합교육은 학문과 기술의 최정상에 도달하는 것을 지상목표로 삼고 소수정예의 양성에 치중한 다. 다수의 낮은 성취자들은 실패자로 낙인찍힌다. 이는 보통 학교에서 볼 수 있는 장면과 조금도 다를 바 없다. 교육을 본위로 한 융합교육은 수준의 높낮이와 상관없이 어느 수준에서나 다음 단계를 목표로 삼고 상구교육과 하화교육의 흥겨운 놀이를 즐길 수 있도록 배려한다. 여기에 최첨단의 지식과 기술은 교육의 고유한 가치체험을 구현하는데 오히려 방해가 된다. 본위에 따라 융합교육의 양태가 큰 차이를 보이는 만큼 그 본위선택에 신중을 기해야 한다. 나아가, 융합의 목표실현을 위해서라도 교육의 자율적 특성을 이해하는 데 보다 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다.

This paper is a study of a concept of convergence education with a critical review of meanings and values of it. The aims of convergence education are not convincingly fixed on convergence but on education equally, because education has its unique values which is identified within its own structure. The appearance of convergence education purposing the intrinsic value of education would differ from that of convergence. Those who accept convergence as the only primary reason insist that education is a way to master top-level knowledges and skills so as to accomplish the objectives of convergent education. Very few students harvest such victorious successes as winners, however, a vast number of students end in failures as losers. Obviously, the same situation happens in schools. When the intrinsic value of education is set prior to that of convergence, education begins to go its way: It does not force to students the highest level of knowledges and skills, just thrusting them to fall into frustration. Instead, it allows every students to find their own end-in-views, which are usually the next step to the present level. End-in-views are educative , because they are optimally challenging levels to facilitate the interactions with students, through which they can grow in their own speed. The ideals in the appearances of convergence education represents elitism and democratism, respectively.
