πle Formation of ‘Hyangjung(鄭中)’ or organization of Hyangan and Rural Autonoy System in the 17th Century Korea

The id goveng system of Chosun dyanasty as Confucious state was rule by the modesty, not by the law. The self-governing sysn of modem citizen’s state by the right of versal suffrage is different from that of pre-modem state of the status society. But if we comprehend that pre-mem society is status society, we can develop the history of self govemment system of Korea. ‘Hyarjung(鄭中)’ was called ‘Dhyang(一鄭)’ etc. That was selfgoveming system organized by a few elected local elite and have represent the local society. They cont:r the Iocal policies through the Hyangso(鄭所) system that counsell어 and assisted the govemer. The composition of Hyangjung was different by the county. Hyangjung was not admitted by the state, but they assisted the govner in one hand, but they checked him in other hand through the Hyangso that was admitted by the state. So we can called the Hyangjung system as the self govemment system of pre-modem Koea
