The interpretation of the vocabulary records concerning the terms of vessels in <yeongjouigwe>

The paper aims to search for korean vocabulary used in the past, interpreting the terms of the vessels recorded in the loan words of Chinese in <yeonouigwe>. All the terms shown in uigwe were rec&uuml;ed in Chinese, but most of them were just loan어 from the sound and meaning of the Chinese language. That is, in rea1ity, they were represented as the pronunciation of Korn faithfly. Among them, not a few of the terms for the vessels were not registed in the documents concemed, and the others are different from those defined nowadays. It’ s helpful to identify and correct most of these vocab비ary through s study. To sum up the conclusions are the followings. First, in the existed study conceming ‘ 南兒’， ‘所維’， the tit1es for the vessels were omitted. These are the homonyms which represent the vessels other than each name of the construction materials, name of the musical instruments so the explanation of the titles of the vessels are to be added. The interpretation that ‘뽕子’ IS ‘석쇠’ should be corrected. Second, ‘ Jj&yacute;:.( 器， )L) 빈’， 갱펄 子’， ‘沙蘇’ are the examples which sees the appliances as the names of the persons. These are named after those sirnilar to the features of the ap야arances and the appliances in naming of slavers. Lastly, ‘人操(人~8) 金’， ‘所싸(伊)’， ‘ }j 文(器)먼’， ‘벼兒f ’ ‘옐 fi’， ‘沙蘇’， ‘ 5 太(台)’， ‘所維’， ‘所JIJ ’， ‘鍾了’， ‘ f( 당)먼’ are the homonyms, which are to be interpreted according to the contexts.<Catholic University of Ðaegu)
