6ㆍ25전쟁이전 북한 무장세력에 대한 애국정신 사례연구

Case study about the patriotism of citizen against the brutality of NK partizan before the Korean war - Focused on the incident that took place in Ji Gyung Ri, Po Hang, GyeongBuk Province

본 연구는 6･25전쟁 전 1949년 경북 포항의 지경리 마을에서 무고한 마을주민들을 대상으로 자행된 북한 무장세력의 만행사건에서 나타난 주민들의 애국정신을 살펴보기 위한 목적으로 연구되었다. 이 사건은 남북 간의 이념 대립시기에 북한 무장세력이 치안부재의 포항 지경리 마을을 기습하여 34명의 무고한 양민을 무참하게 학살하고 마을을 불태운 사건이다. 본 연구의 목적은 그동안 제대로 알려지지 않고 묻혀 있던 이 사건을 재조명하고 사건과정에서 나타난 지역 주민들의 신고정신과 시민 애국정신, 상부상조의 정신을 찾아내어 아직도 남북분단의 현실에서 살고 있는 우리들에게 유비무환의 호국정신을 일깨우고자 하는 데 있다. 이러한 시민 애국정신을 자랑과 귀감으로 여기고 다시는 이러한 비극이 재발되지 않도록 본 연구가 국가안보의 중요성을 다시 한번 되새겨보는 계기가 되었으면 한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the patriotism which appeared among the citizens against the brutal incident committed by NK partizan in 1949 before the Korean war, at Ji Gyung Ri, Po Hang, Gyung-buk Province. This was a tragic incident which NK partizan attacked and massacred 34 innocent people and set fire to the village. The purpose of this study is to unveil this otherwise unknown incident and to recognize and honour the citizens who reported NK guerilla invasion to the police in hope of national security. The patriotic spirit and mutual help given from the citizens during the nation’s dark times should be noted with respect and appreciation. I sincerely hope that this study will remind the people of the importance of national patriotism and raise the awareness of national security in order to prevent the tragedy from happening again.
