장교 후보생의 다문화 경험에 따른 다문화 인식 및 다문화 군대에 관한 태도

The Effect of Multicultural Experience on the Multicultural Awareness and Attitude toward Multicultural Military Among Military Officer’s Cadets - Focused on Gyeongbuk province

본 연구는 장교 후보생의 다문화 경험에 따른 다문화 인식과 다문화 군대에 관한 태도를 분석하기 위해 경상북도 소재 대학에 재학중인 군사학과 학생과 학군사관후보생(ROTC)를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장교 후보생의 다문화 인식 정도는 중간 정도(3.43)로 나타났고, 다문화 경험이 있는 경우가 다문화 인식의 모든 영역인 ‘다문화현상 이해’, ‘다문화수용 인식’, ‘다민족 선호태도’에서 다문화경험이 없는 경우보다 이해의 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 장교 후보생의 다문화가족 장병에 대한 태도는 전반적으로는 긍정적으로 나타났으나 현역장병과 병사보다는 부정적인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다문화 군대 정착을 위한 장병 교육의 필요성에 대해서는 다문화 교육 경험, 다문화 관련 행사 참여 경험, 외국인과의 교류경험이 있는 장교 후보생이 경험이 없는 경우 보다 다문화 군대 정착을 위한 장병 교육의 필요성을 높게 인식하고 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 종합하면, 다문화 경험은 장교 후보생 자신의 다문화 인식뿐만 아니라 다문화 장병에 대한 긍정적인 태도 형성과 다문화 군대 정착을 위한 장병 교육의 필요성 인식 형성에도 주요한 요소인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이들이 후보생 과정에서 풍부한 다문화 경험을 할 수 있도록 다문화 학생과의 교류나 행사참여, 다문화 강사 초빙교육, 다문화 관련 봉사활동 등의 맞춤형 교육을 제공하는 것이 필요할 것으로 사료된다. 현행 ROTC 장교양성 교육과 군사학과 교육 과정에 다문화 인식 제고를 위한 교육이 전무한 현실을 볼 때 후보생 교육과정에 관련과목을 개설하거나 교양 및 선택 과목으로 수강과 앞에서 제시한 다양한 다문화 경험을 통해 장교 후보생들에게 다문화가족 병사에 대한 인식을 향상시키는 것이 다문화 군대로의 전환대비에 우선되어야 할 것이다.

The purposes of this study are to investigate the effect of multicultural experience on the multicultural awareness and attitude toward multicultural military among military officer’s cadets. The subjects in this study were the students of military studies and ROTC cadets in the regions of Gyeongbuk province. A structured survey was conducted to gather data. The results are as follows. First, the degree of military officer’s cadets’ multicultural awareness are middle levels. And multicultural education effected multicultural awareness. Second, the military officer’s cadets’ attitude towards multicultural soldiers were a positive but it is more negative than the active duty soldiers’. Third, it effected by multicultural education on the necessary of soldiers’ education for multicultural military. Therefore, it is essentially required to multicultural education for military officer’s cadets and develop the programs that would enhance the effectiveness of multicultural awareness.
