Spiritual History Approach of Hwa-rang - Focusing on the Dangun Legend

논문에서는 화랑문화를 단군신화에서 재해석하였다. 화랑도는 한국의 고유사상으로 이해되고 있다. 하지만 기존 연구에서는 사료의 부족으로 인해 그 실체를 분명하게 드러내지 못하였다. 그래서 화랑에 대해 정신사적 접근을 시도해 볼 필요가 있다. 한국인의 근원적인 경험과 사유는 단군신화를 통해 이해될 수 있다. 그래서 단군신화의 상징체계는 화랑도에도 투영되어 있을 수 있다.그래서 단군신화에서 화랑에 접근해 보았다. 우선, 화랑의 기원을 단군신화와의 관련성을 중심으로 논하였다. 화랑도는 화랑도 제정 이전의 원화제와는 분명히 구별된다. 원화제가 한국의 고유한 신앙에만 기반을 두었다면, 화랑도는 고유한 신앙체제와 삼교 (유교. 불교. 도교)가 융합되어진 제도이자 사상임을 논하였다. 그 다음, 화랑도의 정신과 단군신화의 관계성을 논하였다. 최치원의 『낙랑비서문』에서는 풍류를 화랑의 정신으로 이해한다. 풍류도의 기원은 단군신화의 한사상과 홍익인간과 연결된다. 이뿐만 아니라 풍류도의 포용성과 ‘접화군생’은 단군신화의 한사유와 지향성이 반영되어 있다. 그래서 풍류도는 외래 사상을 한국적인 상황에서 해석한 문화주체임을 밝혔다. 마지막으로 화랑도의 수련방식에서 풍류도와 삼교가 어떻게 융합되는지를 논의하였다. 화랑도의 수련방식에는 명산대천을 거닐면서 수련하는 방법과 음악과 춤을 수련하는 방법 그리고 도덕을 연마하는 수련 방식이 있다. 앞의 두 수련방식은 풍류적인 수련방식이라면 도덕 연마는 외래사상에 기초하고 있다. 화랑은 이 두 유형을 통합하면서 수련하였음을 논하였다.

This study attempted to reinterpret the Hwa-rang from the perspective of the Dangun Legend. The Hwa-rang code is recognized as a unique idea of Korea. However, its essence has not been define due to the lack of specimens. That is why this study attempted to approach the Hwa-rang code from the perspective of the Dangun Legend. The Dangun Legend is a myth that symbolically expresses the emotions and thoughts of Koreans. Therefore, the symbolic meaning of the Dangun Legend may have partially been reflected in the Hwa-rang code. Hence, this study discussed the following contents. First, while tracking the origin of the Hwa-rang code, its correlation with the Dangun Legend was discussed. It was stated that the Hwa-rang code should be differentiated from Won-hwa prior to Hwa-rang. It was revealed that if Won-hwa was based on a unique religious system of Korea, then the Hwa-rang code was a system of ideas that included the Three Teachings (Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism) based on the unique religious system of Korea. Afterwards, the relationship of the spirit of the Hwa-rang code and the Dangun Legend was discussed. The spirit of the Hwa-rang code was understood as the integration of Poong-ryu-do and the Three Teachings. Poong-ryu-do was discussed within the relationship of the Dangun Legend, and that its spirit included inclusiveness and jeob-hwa-gun-saeng. It was further discussed that such spirit of poong-ryu-do can include foreign ideas. Lastly, it was discussed how poong-ryu-do and the Three Teachings were integrated in the training method of the Hwa-rang code. It was explained that the training method of the Hwa-rang code included traveling the great mountains and rivers of the country to train, learning music and dance, and training in ethics and morals. While the first two training methods were on the appreciation of the arts, training in ethics was based on foreign ideas. It was discussed that the Hwa-rang combined the two types for training.
