시민교육의 관점에서 본 학교폭력의 현황과 극복방안

A Study on the Cause, Reality, and Solution of School Violence from the Standpoint of Civil Education

연구전개는 학교교육에 내재한 학교폭력의 원인과 실태를 밝히고 그에 대한 대책을 시민교육 차원에서 모색하는 데 둔다. 이 연구는 학교폭력 현상을 객관적 및 반성적 입장에서 바라볼 수 있는 대학생을 대상으로 그들이 중고교시절에서 겪었던 학교폭력의 실제사례에 주목하였다. 학교폭력의 원인은 다음과 같았다. 먼저, 학교폭력은 신자유주의화에 따른 가정해체와 가정붕괴의 가속화에 따른 가정적 요인에서 비롯되었다. 둘째, 학교폭력은 입시위주의 교육과 밀접한 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년 삶의 주무대인 SNS 환경은 학교폭력의 중요한 원인이 되었다. 학교폭력의 유형은 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 학교폭력은 신체적 폭력과 금품갈취의 형태로 발생하였고, 둘째, 학교폭력은 서열싸움, 곧 지배 대 피지배의 권력관계를 둘러싼 권력쟁취와 유지형태로 나타났다. 셋째, 학교폭력은 온라인세계를 배경으로 거친 언어폭력을 동반한 인격모독의 형태를 띠었으며, 넷째, 학교폭력은 다수학생들이 특정학생을 지목하여 괴롭히는 집단따돌림 형태를 띠었다. 학교폭력의 대책은 학교교육을 바라보는 근본적 시각전환에서 찾을 수 있었다. 다시 말해, 현행의 승자독식 교육패러다임에서 벗어나 공존과 공생가치에 의한 시민교육 패러다임으로의 전환이 필수적으로 요청되었다.

The main purpose of study is to inquire into the cause and reality of school violence which inheres in school education, and consider a alternative of such violence in terms of civil education. This study focuses on the real case that university students experienced in their middle and high school days. The causes of school violence are as follows. Firstly, school violence is thought to have originated in the acceleration of family disorganization by neo-liberalism. Secondly, school violence has immediate connection with the education system that focuses only on college entrance. Thirdly, SNS environment as a main stage of adolescent culture provides the cause of school violence. The types of school violence are as follows. Firstly, school violence is directly connected to body violence and ripoff. Secondly, school violence means struggle for hierarchy in the relation of the ruling class and controlled class to gain and maintain power. Thirdly, school violence assumes the shape of defamation of character with verbal violence in the background of on-line world. Fourthly, current tendency of school violence assumes the form of bulling that is “outcast” which many students point out and harass collectively a particular student. The fundamental measure of school violence can be found out in the shift of perspective on the school education. It is necessary that the measure should need “paradigm shift” from winner-take-all educational paradigm to civil educational paradigm which promotes liberal citizen.
