Male and female hair stylists from 19 to 50 years of age were selected for this analysis. This paper aimed to verify the influence of ego resilience, which helps overcome a variety of increasing stresses, and job performance for improving job performance as beauty specialists in spite of aggravated stresses dependent on the diverse kinds of environmental changes in the rapidly growing beauty industry. The questionnaires were distributed to 350 hair stylists from 19 to 50 years of age working in Gwangju. The questionnaires were collected from April 11 to 25, 2016 for analysis. Three hundred twenty five questionnaires while questionnaires with incomplete responses were not used. The SPSS for Windows 20.0 statistics package was adopted for data analysis. Frequency, t-test, factor, reliability, correlation and multiple regression analysis were executed to verify the established hypothesis. The analysis results are presented below. First, ego-resilience was classified into sociality, positivity and control while competence at work was divided into motivation, potential and compensation. Ego-residence has a positive effect on competence at work(p<.001). Second, in terms of differences in ego-resilience by gender, a statistically significant difference was found in ‘sociality’ and ‘control’ (p<.01, p<.05). Third, in terms of differences in competence at work by gender, a statistically significant difference was observed in ‘compensation’ only (p<.05).
