Purpose In evaluating the direct EIAB of MMD, there is a critical disadvantage of separating the blood vessel from the bone in CT angiography. Therefore, the study attempted to find out about this disadvantage using subtraction. Materials and Methods The research was conducted on 79 adult patients with STA over 2mm in cerebral angiography who had CT scans after the conditions were confirmed as MMD, between March 2005 and March 2006. The patients are consisted of 44 males and 35 females, with the average age of 50 years old (male) and 45 years old (female). The relationships with surrounding blood vessels such as positions, and shapes using Volume rendering and Subtraction. Results The success of EIAB of MMD is depending on the existence of donor artery with enough size and length. The adaptability of Subtraction angiography in MMD diagnosis is becoming extensive and the method of Subtraction angiography is getting diversity. Subtraction CT angiography is a excellent test method in evaluating various blood vessels of MMD, which optimizes the best possible simulation of operation from every direction at the surgical operation or endovascular operation, since it uses Subtraction to compose the image including posterior view without restriction of the direction of the view. Conclusion The surgical EIAB on MMD finds out the relationships with surrounding tissues and blood vessels that are covered with the bone using Subtraction Angiography, and it was very useful in diagnosing MMD and evaluating vascular lesion within the skull, which will contribute to further treatment and clinical judgment.
