초등학교 국악교육의 현주소에 대한 일고찰

Measuring a Cognition of Traditional Music Education by Elementary School Students

지금까지 우리나라의 국악교육은 외형적 측면뿐 아니라 질적 측면에서도 괄목할 만한 발전을 이루어왔다. 이와 함께 한국의 전통문화를 통한 정체성 확립이나 미래의 국악인 양성 측면에서 초등 국악교육에 대한 연구 또한 많은 성장을 이루었으나, 대 체로 국악교육 실태에 대한 규범적 논의 혹은 교과과정 자체에 대한 분석이 주를 이루었고 정작 국악교육의 대상인 초등학생 관점의 연구는 일천한 상황이다. 본 연구는 이러한 점에 주목하고 국악 분야에서 초등 국악교육의 실태를 실증적으로 분석하고 이의 개선방안을 제시하여 미래 세대에 우리 전통문화의 가치를 제고시키고 국악 향유를 활성화하는데 기여하고자 한다. 이를 위해 국악교육의 대상인 초등학생을 중심으로 국악교육에 대한 인식을 측정하고 국악교육정책에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

Traditional music education as a national education represents a growing research in Korea. However, to date very few studies have been conducted on traditional music education research from the point of view of elementary school students. The purpose of this study is to further understanding of traditional music education from the point of view of elementary school students. To achieve the purpose, the study empirically analyzed the traditional music education of elementary school in Korea. The analysis is assessed through survey measurements of the level of cognition of elementary school students (n=557) in Korea. Analytic results showed that elementary school students in Korea had a low interest in the traditional music. So, we suggested the development of the traditional music education of elementary school in Korea with some implications of analytic results.
