‘지구촌(地球村) 만들기’와 교육의 역할

물리적 거리를 넘어서 일일생활권 또는 동시생활권으로 가까워진 세계는 앞으로 해결 해야 할 과제는 심리적 거리감을 최소화하는 일이다. 자라나는 세대에게 전쟁보다 평화, 경쟁보다 협동, 갈등보다 관용을 가르치는 일이 요청된다. 국제간 특히 한중일 삼국간에 복잡하게 얽힌 갈등을 극복하고 공존공영의 이상을 실현 하자면, 정치․외교․안보적인 측면을 강조하여 정치논리로 접근하는 것보다 역사적 사실을 직시하여 연구하고 교육하는 학문과 교육의 논리로 봐야 할 것이다. 한중일 삼국은 오랜 기간 일의대수와 같은 동아시아를 무대로 수많은 역사적 경험을 축적해 왔다. 교육을 통해 회복탄력성을 회복할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 그리하여 오랜 역사적 경험의 과정에서 드러난 과거의 문제들을 치유할 수 있는 긍정적 자세를 갖도록 해야 한다. 국제간에 물리적 거리는 물론 심리적 거리를 더 가깝게 유지하기 위해서는 정치논리가 아닌 교육논리에 의한 ‘지구촌 만들기’ 사업을 시도해야 한다. 지구촌 만들기는 한국의 새마을 운동이나 일본의 마치쯔쿠리와 그 맥락을 같이 하는 것이다. 앞으로 한중일 삼국은 동아시아의 평화와 공동번영을 위해 역사왜곡을 지양하고, 강국 보다는 인본주의에 입각한 대국을 지향하고, 사욕이 아닌 공심의 세계를 지향했으면 한다. 이러한 비전을 위해서는 성실한 지식인의 사명과 자각이 요청된다.

In particular, if we can overcome the intricate conflicts between Korea, China, and Japan and realize the ideal of coexistence, it should be viewed as the logic of academic and education that researches and educates according to historical facts rather than political logic that emphasizes political, diplomatic and security aspects The three countries of Korea, China and Japan have accumulated a lot of historical experience in East Asia for a long time. We need to be able to recover the resilience through education. It is therefore necessary to have a positive attitude to heal past problems revealed in the course of long historical experience. In order to keep the psychological distance closer in the international community, it is necessary to try the global village cultivating project based on educational logic rather than political logic The three countries of Korea, China, and Japan should avoid distortion of history for peace and common prosperity in East Asia. We should aim for a great nation based on humanism rather than a powerful nation. We should pursue the spirit of the public society rather than personal desires. For this vision, the vocation and awareness of a sincere intellectual is called for.
