The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 8week-creatine oral supplementation and weight training on muscle strength and body composition in middle-aged men. 14 middle-aged healthy volunteers who had been attended to the fitness program were participated in this study, and assigned to 2 groups; one was Cr group(n=7) and the other placebo group(n=7). 3g of creation or placebo was ingested daily for 8 weeks with double blind method to 2 groups, respectively. Weight training program was performed three times a week, and 3 sets of 12×70-80% of 1-RM intensity per one time. 1-RM in shoulder press, pull down, incline press, leg press, leg curl, and knee extension were measured to examine the changes of muscle strength. Limbs girth(upper arm circumference, forearm circumference, femoral circumference, lower leg circumference) and body composition(body weight, fat-free mass, fat mass, and % body fat) were measured before and after 8week-training. After 8-week-training and Cr supplementation, significant differences were shown in 1-RM in all variables(p<.01). Also significant differences were shown in limb circumference and body composition(p<.05). In conclusion, 8week-weight training and Cr supplementation had been seemed to have positive effect to muscle strength and body composition in middle-aged men.
