The purpose of this study is how to examine Korean dance, ballet and modern dance influence on the increase of lumbar bone mineral density. The subjects are 85 general girls who are attending middle, high school and college. And 82 girls majoring Korean dance. 86 ballet, 57 modern dance who are also attending middle, high school and college of art. Measured part is Lumbar 1-4, bone mineral density of testees is measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), QDR 4500W. Statistical data produced average, the standard deviation among each variate factor using SAS statistical package and compared the group difference by ANCOVA which age and weight are covariate variable. Bonferroni method is used to examine the difference between group as a multi comparison to LSMEAN. A statistical meaningful level is P<.05. The result of this analysis shows a meaningful difference among groups(F=16.11, P<.001). The orders compared with LSMEAN are modern dance(1.00g/㎠), ballet(0.96g/㎠), Korean dance(0.93g/㎠), and comparison group(0.90g/㎠). By Bonferroni method, it is said modem dance has a meaningful difference compared to ballet, Korean dance and comparison group. Also ballet group has a meaningful difference to comparison group. As a conclusion, all the groups who are majoring dance have higher bone mineral density than comparison group. Accordingly, growing girls’ regular dance activity can be considered to make the increase of the bone mineral density as well as peak bone mass and to help girls’ bone healthy.
