The purpose of this study was to identify attitude toward physical education, perceived physical strength, and self-esteem, and investigate the predictors of self-esteem Participants were primary school, middle school, high school, and college students (200 males and 200 females) whose ages ranged 12 to 24 (M=16.90, SD=3.83). A t-test, ANOVA, and forward step-wise regression analysis were performed. Result revealed that male students had more positive attitude toward physical education and high self-esteem, and perceived more physical strength than female students. Primary school and college students had more positive attitude toward physical education than middle school and high school students, while college students felt high self-esteem than primary school, middle school, and high school students. A forward step-wise regression revealed that all three variables were significant independent predictors of self-esteem, yet attitude toward physical education accounted for more variance than perceived physical strength. These findings reiterate the role of attitude toward physical education in self-esteem and suggest a role for perceived physical strength.
