This study reviews the development and trends of Gangwon Technopark’s global competitiveness relative to its regional innovation systems through the generalized double diamond model, an extension of Michael Porter’s diamond model which tries to understand competitiveness from the interaction of domestic/international diamond structural patterns resulting from surveys. Results show that Gangwon Technopark is competitive domestically internationally in terms of factor conditions, demand, related and supporting industries and firm strategy, structure and rivalry. However taking into account a comparison of indexing in 2012 (1st) and 2017 (2nd) results, Gangwon Technopark is weak in three aspects of competitiveness in 2017 (2nd) compared to that in 2012 (1st). Thus, in terms of factor conditions, it is necessary to strengthen HR capabilities of employees for global business support at Gangwon Technopark to boost international competitiveness while engaging in infrastructure development for regional industries to address domestic competitiveness. Related to demand, it can be seen that the purpose of international users to receive business services and customer satisfaction wants is diverse both from the domestic and international perspectives. Relative to firm strategy, structure, and rivalry, labor conflicts at the domestic level should be manages properly to promote foreign business. Finally, it is also necessary to increase investment substantial support.
