Olympism and Global Citizenship Education: Search for the Relationship

역사 속에서 인류는 직면한 당시대의 문제들로부터 자유롭지 못했으며, 이러한 문제 해결을 위한 인류의 노력은 개인적 차원, 국가적 차원, 세계적 차원을 포괄한다. 오늘날의 인류는 서로 연결된 세계 속에서 전 지구적인 차원의 문제에 직면해 있으며, 이를 인류 공동의 노력으로 풀어내고자 노력하고 있다. 새천년개발목표(Millennium Development Goals: MDGs)와 지속가능발전목표(Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs)는 이러한 공동의 노력의 좋은 실례이며, 글로벌시민교육의 문제는 이연장선상에 자리한다. 본고는 세계화의 진전과 함께 등장한 글로벌시민사회와 글로벌 시민, 그리고 글로벌시민교육의 문제를 올림피즘과 연관시켜 탐구하고 있으며, 하나의 사례로서 평창 드림프로그램의 경우를 검토하고 있다. 이를 통해 올림픽 운동을 통한 글로벌시민교육의 확장 가능성을 모색한다.

Throughout the human history, humankind has never been free from the problems of the era that they face. The efforts of humankind of solving them include individual level, national level and global level. Today, in the era of globalization, the problems of the world are sought to be solved through cooperative efforts of humankind. Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals are two good examples, which invited the need of the global citizenship education. This article aims to study the global civil society, global citizen and global citizenship education with connecting to Olympism. PyeongChang Dream Program is taken as an example, on which the possibility of expanding the global citizenship education is sought.
