The determination of distance to open cluster α-persei and pleiades

In this study we determined the distance to Open Cluster, α-persei and pleiades. We observed the Photoelectric observation of the nine standard and Pleiades, α-Persei with a 16-inch reflecting telescope in KTC observatory. The extinction coefficients measured from the standard stars were Kv=0.351±0.036, Kb-v=0.198±0.072, and Ku-b=0.265±0.073 : The coefficients were reasonable in Winter season. And the transformation coefficients were well consistent with those of Chang hyon Shin (1984). From these parameters, we determined the magnitude and colors for each member of the two Open Clusters. Finally, We could make a Color-Magnitude Diagram and measure the distance to each Open Cluster by Main Sequence Fitting Method. As a result, the distance of α-Persei was about 140 pc and that of pleiades 126 pc.
