대학의 미래 전망 및 경쟁력 제고 방안

21세기 지식기반사회가 도래하면서 대학은 엄청난 속도의 변화를 강요받고 있다. 대학의 미래 모습을 전망해보면, 교수중심에서 학습자 중심으로의 전환, 평생 학습사회의 도래 및 유비쿼터스 학습의 일반화, 대학 특성화 및 활발한 인수합병 등을 특징으로 할 것이다. 당면한 대학의 위기를 극복하고 고등교육의 경쟁력 확보를 위해 본 연구는 학사운영 및 학생선발에 있어서의 구체적이고 실질적인 몇 가지 전략을 제시한다. 즉, 대학의 특성화 및 슬림화, 국제화 방안을 비롯하여 등록관리 업무의 효율성 제고를 위한 통계 분석적 접근방법, 대학지배구조 개선을 위한 감독 이사회 도입 방안 등을 제안하고 있다.

In the 21st century, all the colleges and universities are compelled to change rapidly in order to adapt to the knowledge based society. Under the circumstance, a professor-centered university should change into a learner-centered university, and lifelong education and ubiquitous learning would be generalized. In addition, as the customers and industries outside are never satisfied at the result of higher education and demand higher quality of the education, colleges and universities need to restructure and specialize their organization and function including M&A. This study suggests some specific and practical strategies of college academic affairs and student recruitment to help overcome the crises the colleges and universities face now. For instance, effective strategies to reduce the number of students and exchange some departments between universities are needed to increase their competitiveness. On the other hand, strategic enrollment management generally used in U.S.A and the board of overseers in Harvard university are worth introducing.
