고등 정신 능력 향상을 위한 수업 환경 요인 탐색

A Study on Instructional Factors for the Development of High Mental Ability

최근 고등 정신능력 함양을 위한 교육의 필요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 이러한 필요성에 따라 본 연구에서 고등 정신능력 향상을 위한 수업환경 요인들을 이론적으로 고찰하여 보았다. 그 동안 측정되고 연구되어져 온 수업환경 요인들은 수업활동 수준, 교사의 지원과 격려, 개인학습 구조, 협력학습 구조, 경쟁학습 구조, 학급의 질서와 조직 등 6개 요인들이다. 이 요인들과 고등 정신능력과의 관계를 검토하여 효과적인 수업환경 요인은 무엇인지 탐색한 바에 따라 도출한 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 수업장면에서 행동규칙을 명료화하여 학생들이 과제에 몰두할 수 있는 환경 속에서 높은 지적 수준의 수업 목표, 활동 및 평가를 강조해야 한다. 둘째로, 그러한 수준에서의 협력적 또는 자율적 학습활동을 권장하여 그 활동을 통해 학생들이 보여주는 과제 성취 과정이나 결과에 대하여 공평하게 그리고 과제관여적으로 지원이나 격려를 해주는 수업환경이 필요하다. 셋째로, 경쟁구조는 인지능력과 성취동기의 발달에 부정적인 관계를 갖는 측면이 있어 학급 모든 학생들의 고등 정신능력을 향상시키지 못하는 것으로 보인다. 이러한 현상은 경쟁의 가치를 무시하게 하는데 경쟁을 적절히 사용할 때 학습 동기와 활동을 촉진할 수 있다고 판단된다. 학급 모든 학생들의 학습과 동기를 자극하는 경쟁학습 전략을 마련하는 일이 중요하다.

The necessity of education for the development of high mental ability is emphasized recently. According to this necessity, the instructional factors that develop high mental ability were reviewed by literature-study. Based on the results of this review, such conclusions as following are derived. First, in the instructional environment that students attend on task through clarity of behavioral rules, instructional goals, activities, and evaluation of high intellectual level are emphasized. Second, cooperative or individualized learning activities of such a level are encouraged. And it is necessary to support or encourage fairly or task-involvedly about the processes and results of such activities. Third, competitive learning activities seem to be negatively related to high mental ability. It is important to deliberate on competitive learning strategies that facilitate learning and motivation of all students of classroom.
