퓌뒤푸 시네세니(Cinéscénie) 연구:

A Study of Puy du Fou Cinéscénie : Focused on the Concept of Le lieu de mémoire by Pierre Nora

피에르 노라는 프랑스역사총서 기억의 장소에서 현재 세계적인 관광명소 퓌뒤푸 테마파크가 위치해 있는 장소이자, 프랑스혁명 당시 방데전쟁(1793)으로 상징되는 혁명파와 반혁명파의 이념적 갈등의 첨예한 격전지였던 방데(Vendée)지방을 ‘기억의 장소’ 연구영역에 포함한다. 본 논문은 방데전쟁을 작품창작의 소재로 취하고 있는 퓌뒤푸의 대표 어트랙션인 ‘시네세니(Cinéscénie)’속에 투영된 피에르 노라의 ‘기억의 장소’ 개념 분석을 시도한다. 연구의 목적은 노라의 기억 개념과 시네세니 사이의 상호 연관성 속에서 발견되는 서사극 시네세니의 특징을 바탕으로, 지역의 역사자원을 원천으로 한 문화기획의 가치와 시사점을 논의하고자 함이다. 연구결과 시네세니는 첫째, 혁명군에 의해 살상한데의 조상들을 추모하고 기억하는 기념제의 형식을 보유하고 있다. 둘째, 비극적인 과거사(방데전쟁)를 재기억화(remémoration)하는 작업에 있어서 국가가 주도한 공식 역사에 대항하는 하위서사(sub-narrative)적 특성을 보여준다. 셋째, 시네세니 기획 전 과정에 지역주민들의 자발적인 참여와 협력이 주효하였음이 확인됨에 따라 “기억의 장소화 작업은 기억이 깃든 장소의 당사자들의 의지에 의해 성취된다.”는 노라의 주장을 입증하고 있다. 결론적으로, ‘방데 전쟁의 기억, 시네세니’는 역사와 기억의 대립, 또는 공식역사와 비공식 역사의 갈등을 기념문화제 형식을 빌어 구현하고 있는 ‘기억의 장소’이며, 방데 공동체의 기억이 깃들어 있는 특별한 장소, 즉 지역 정체성으로부터 탄생된 역사문화콘텐츠로서의 특징을 함유한다.

In French history, the region of Vendée has been regarded as an counter-revolution incarnate against the French Revolution and also has been lied under the most contentious issues of conflicts between the official history and the unofficial history until the 20th centuries. The descendents of Vendéen created an epic theater named Cinécénie, the most popular and largest night-time show at the Puy du Fou to memory and commemorate the victims of Vendée War(1793). One hand, Pierre Nora designated the region of Vendée, as one of his studying lists of Les lieux du mémoire to explore the idea of the discourse of memory which called as an alternative historiographical methodology. The purpose of this paper is firstly to analyze the Puy du Fou Cinécénie, from the point of the concept of Le lieu de mémoire introduced by Pierre Nora, in the Les lieux du mémoire(1984), and secondly to examine what sorts of characteristics that the epic theater Cinécénie carries on under the notion of Le lieu de mémoire, and finally to discuss what kind of interrelationship can be found between the discourse of memory of Pierre Nora and Puy du Fou Cinécénie. As a result of close observation, I discovered the Cinécénie has created a genuine le lieu de mémoire not just for memory of Vendée War but it represents Vendéean history -from the happy golden epoch of French renaissance to war, the wrench of death, joy of daily works and wishes of peace and hope for the future -telling a story of Vendée war based on the history of Maupilliers family who has lived in Le Puy du Fou since the middle ages upto 20th centuries. In conclusion, Cinécénieoire. reflects the fact that prominent identical cultural contents that appeals public attentions has been rooted from the local history.
