청소년의 탈절도 과정 연구

본 연구에서는 청소년이 어떤 과정을 통해 절도를 극복하게 되었는지 파악하고자 Strauss와 Corbin(1998/2001)의 근거이론 접근방법으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 참여자는 절도 경험이 있으나 6개월 이상 절도를 하지 않은 청소년 10명을 대상으로 하 였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 절도 과정 요인을 파악하기 위해 개방코딩 한 결과,130개의 개념과 50개의 하위범주 중에서 16개의 상위범주를 도출하였다. 둘째, 청소년들이 절도 과정에서 경험하는 중심현상은 ‘절도에 의한 법적 처벌 의 두려움과 자기반성’으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년이 어떤 과정을 통해 절도를 극복하게 되었는지 시간의 흐름에 따라 분석한 결과, ‘잠재적 일탈 환경에 노출’, ‘일탈적 방법으로 욕구 충족’, ‘법적 처벌에 의한 자각’, ‘탈절도’로 나타났다. 넷째, 청소년의 탈절도 과정에서 핵심범주는 ‘법적 처벌과 자각을 통해 사회적으로 용인된 방식으로욕구를 충족해 나가는 과정’임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 청소년의 탈절도 과정을 이해할 수 있는 폭을 넓히고 절도에 대한 개입방안을 마련하는데 의의를 갖는다.

The study aims to find out the way in which adolescents were able to overcome theft behavior. The participants in this study were 10 adolescents who had experience in committing theft but nonetheless didn t commit theft for the last six months. The analysis in this study was performed based on Strauss & Corbin s grounded theory(1998/2001). The findings of this research can be summarized as follows: First the analysis conducted to get an understanding on desistance from theft drew 16 categories and these indicate following results. The essential aspects adolescents go through in the process of committing theft represent fear of legal punishment for committing theft and self-reflection . The causal conditions of essential aspects comprise ‘inappropriate care and discipline of family’ ‘tough school life which is difficult to adapt to and relative deprivation arising from economic difficulties . The contextual condition affecting fear of legal punishment for committing theft and self-reflection consist of ‘the way dealing with dysfunctional problems in family’ ‘relationship changes of peers who committed theft ‘dropping out of school’ ‘absence of guilty conscience over theft’ and ‘pursuits of desire satisfaction through committing theft’. ‘Changes in family s methods of reaction after legal punishment and acceptance of school and social support system after legal punishment were identified as the intervening conditions influencing the actions/interactions strategy. The identified actions/interactions consist of ‘reinforcement of self control’ ‘pursuits of social acknowledgment and success efforts for improvement on personal relations and self-respect for successful adaptation ‘adaptive life’ were drawn as results. Second the analysis on what adolescents experience in the process of their committing theft results in exposures to potential environments causing deviation satisfying desire for deviation self-consciousness after legal punishment actions stopping theft . Third the core category in desistance from theft was characterized as the process of satisfying desire through legal punishment and self-consciousness in a socially accepted manner. This study aims to broaden our understanding on desistance from theft and come up with intervention measures.
