일제의 ‘대동아사’ 구상과 역사교육 &#985103;<동아 및 세계> 과목과 교과서 &#985172;중등역사 1&#985173;을 중심으로&#985103;

The Idea of ‘The Greater East Asia History’ of Japanese Empire and History Education: Focusing on the History Subject <East Asia and The World> and Textbook Secondary School History 1

<동아 및 세계>는 아시아·태평양 전쟁 중이던 1943년에 일본과 조선에서 발표된 중학교교수 및 수련지도요목(中學校敎授及修練指導要目)에 의거해 동양사와 서양사로 이원화되어 있던 기존의 외국사 교육이 하나로 통합되며 탄생한 역사 과목이다. 이 과목의 교과서가 바로 1944년 문부성 국정 단일 교과서로 제작된 &#985172;중 등역사 1(中等歷史 一)&#985173;이었다. <동아 및 세계>와 &#985172;중등역사 1&#985173;은 1940년대로 접어들며 일제가 비상전시교육 체제 확립을 위해 고안한 ‘대동아교육체제’ 하에서 등장하였다. 일제는 사학계를 통해 전쟁 이데올로기를 생산해내고, 이를 역사교육에 투영하고자 했다. 이에 문부성 주관의 국정 개설서인 &#985172;대동아사개설(大東亞史槪說)&#985173;의 편찬 작업이 이루어 졌다. 이 개설서는 ‘대동아공영권의 역사’를 담은 것이었고, <동아 및 세계>와 &#985172;중 등역사 1&#985173;의 내용 구성 논리를 제공하였다. 즉, <동아 및 세계>와 &#985172;중등역사 1&#985173;의 등장은 천황의 영광이 확대되는 과정인 ‘대동아공영권의 역사’를 가르침으로써 학생들을 대동아공영권의 확립을 위해 전쟁에 나가는 황국신민으로 만들기 위함이 었다. &#985172;중등역사 1&#985173;은 아시아·태평양전쟁 당시 일제가 역사교육을 통해 국민들 에게 형성시키려던 대외인식의 상을 구체적으로 보여준다는 점에서 그 의의가 크다고 할 수 있다.

<East Asia and The World> is a foreign history subject that was based on ‘The Training instruction manual’ announced in Japanese Empire and the Colonial Joseon in 1943 , when the Asian-Pacific War was at its peak. It was established for the first and second grade students of secondary schools in Japanese Empire and Colonial Joseon, and integrated the contents of foreign history education, which had been previously divided into Oriental history and Western history. The textbook of this course was Secondary School History 1, which was produced as a national textbook by the Ministry of Education in 1944. <East Asia and The World> and Secondary School History 1 were born on the flow of the “Greater East Asia Education System” designed by the Japanese imperial government to establish an emergency education system for the war of aggression. The Japanese imperial government tried to produce a war ideology through the history and to project ideology into history education. Thus, the compilation of The History of Great East Asia, which is the foundation of the national government under the Ministry of Education, was conducted. This book provided a logic for constructing the contents of <East Asia and the World> and Secondary School History 1. The purpose of <East Asia and the World> and Secondary School History 1 is to make students who learned <East Asia and The World> fight in a war by teaching students the history of the Greater East Asia co-prosperity sphere, which is the process of enlargement of the glory of the Emperor of Japan.
