The purposes of this study were to develop the Social Interest Enhancement Play Group Counseling Program for Aggressive Children and find out the effects of the program on reducing elementary school children’s aggression. An experimental and control group were designed 8 fifth-grade children who showed aggression on high level in pretest for each group. An experimental group members are participated in the Social Interest Enhancement Program at twice a week for five weeks. Social Interest Enhancement Program was based on Adlerian play therapy and individual psychology. The program was consisted with ten sessions(one hour per session) program, that is four phases which are building an egalitarian relationship, exploring the child’s life-style, helping the child gain insight, reorienting/reeducating. The result of treatment were as follows: 1) The Social Interest Enhancement Program reduced participants’ physical aggression, verbal aggression, negativism, and irritability. But, it could not reduce indirect aggression and hostility. 2) Participants had positive impression to various aspects of the Social Interest Enhancement Program, such as understanding of self and others, cooperation, sympathetic reaction and altruism.
