맘교육의 가능성 탐색

Searching for the feasibility of Mwam-education

본 연구는 몸과 맘이 건강하고 감성과 이성, 자연과 문화가 조화를 이룰 수 있는 교육 방안을 탐색하고자 하였다. 그것을 맘교육이라고 정의하고 신화에서 그러한 교육의 원형을 발견하고, 우리나라 화랑도에서 지육과 덕육이 조화를 이룬 교육의 실제를 찾아보았다. 현대 교육은 과학주의, 객관주의, 주지주의 교육에 치우쳐 교육의 본질적인 기능을 수행하지 못하고 있으므로, 감성과 덕육, 그리고 도덕성 함양을 위한 교육 방안과 그 중요성이 날로 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는, 첫째, 맘교육이란 무엇인가를 제시한다. 둘째, 맘교육의 원형은 신화에 있음을 밝힌다. 셋째, 이러한 맘교육이 현실적으로 어떻게 실현 가능한 것인지를 탐색한다. 이성과 감성의 대칭성 회복, 인간과 자연의 조화로운 관계의 새로운 설정, 사랑과 공감의 교육, 교수와 학습의 이원론 극복 등이 새로운 방안으로 제시된다.

This research attempts to search the educational alternative in which body and mind are healthy, and in which emotion and reason, nature and culture can harmonize. Modern philosophy after Descartes forms ‘faith’ that scientific and objective method is the only way to truth. Scientific knowledge is the only one that can be justified, and can secure true knowledge. But such scientism brings on the lack of emotion, the loss of meaning of living, the ignorance of importance of vitality, and the lack of love and sympathy. In this research the author intends to search alternative education through myth which is educational archetype of mental training and moral education. The balance of rational reason and human emotion is a request of contemporary education. This research defines it as ‘Mwam(맘)-education’, searches its archetype in myth, and finds its practical model in our Hwarando in which mental training and moral education is harmonized. ‘Mwam-education’ considers nature and human being as harmonized, and human’s mind and body as united. This ‘Mwam-education’ is feasible through the recovery of symmetry of reason and emotion, the harmonious relationship of human and nature, the education of love and sympathy, and the overcome of dualism in teaching and learning. The goal of ‘Mwam-education’ is educating moral human being who will taste a feeling of happiness on condition that he is healthy and affluent by keeping balance in reason and emotion, and human and nature. Consequently ‘Mwam-education’ is feasible when reasonable scientific thought and emotional mythical thought is complementary.
