적정기술 기반 대학생 해외봉사활동 모델 제안 및 적용

Development of the Overseas Volunteer Program Based on Appropriate Technology for University Students

대학의 사회공헌활동과 글로벌 인재양성이 강조되면서, 해외 봉사활동을 추진하는 대학이 늘어나고 있다. 본 연구는 기존의 대학생 해외봉사활동의 교육적 효과를 높이기 위해 기존 해외봉사모델에 적정기술을 결합한 ‘적정기술 기반 대학생 해외봉사활동 모델’을 제안하고, 사례분석을 통하여 모델의 효과성을 확인하고자 하였다. 대학생들의 주도적인 참여를 유도하고 현지상황을 고려한 적정기술 도입을 통하여 활동 지역의 문제를 도출하고, 봉사활동의 지속 가능성을 개선하고자 하였다. 모델 적용을 위해 “서울대학교 제10기 스누봉사단” 해외봉사활동에 적정기술을 결합한 프로그 램을 도입하였고, 설문조사와 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 수행했다. 적정기술을 도입함으로써 학생들은 활동지역에 대해 더욱 이해하려고 노력하게 되었으며, 활동 지역에 지속적으로 관심을 갖는 데에 도움이 되었다고 응답했다. 또한, 활동 지역에 적합한 적정기술을 도입하기 위해 사전준비 및 사전교육의 중요성이 강조되었다. 본 모델의 지속적인 보완을 통해 적정기술이 효과적으로 결합되어 대학생 해외봉사활동을 더욱 발전시킬 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

As the social responsibility of the university has gained importance, more universities promote overseas volunteer programs. In this study, “the overseas volunteer program based on appropriate technology for university students” is developed and evaluated to increase the educational effect of the volunteer program. Appropriate technology are expected to be helpful to increase the participation of university students and develop a sustainable solution to the service area. “The 10 th SNU volunteers of development cooperation” where the model was introduced was analyzed as a case study to evaluate the model with a survey and a focus-group interview. As appropriate technology is introduced to the volunteer program, most of students thought that they tried to deeply understand the regional characteristics and considered the longterm development after the volunteer program. This model is expected to be utilized to increase the quality of the overseas volunteer programs with further improvement.
