한국사회의 갈등과 평화교육의 방향

The conflict of Korean society and the direction of peace education

본 논문은 한국사회의 갈등 수위가 평화를 해칠 정도로 심각하다는 문제의식으로부터 평화교육의 방향과 내용을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 우선 평화를 해치는 주요인인 갈등에 대한 일반적인 이해와 한국사회의 갈등 요인, 갈등실태를 분석하였다. 그리고 갈등해결 능력을 기르는 교육을 우리 사회에서 필요한 평화교육의 방향으로 설정하고 그 내용으로 다름에 대한 올바른 인식을 위한 교육, 관용의 교육, 비판적 사고의 교육, 사회적 정서 함양을 위한 교육을 제시하면서 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 갈등해결을 위한 평화교육의 정착을 위해 다음과 같은 제언을 하였다. 첫째, 가정에서 평화교육의 중요성을 인식하도록 하는 노력이 필요하다. 둘째, 학교는 갈등해결을 위한 교육에 보다 많은 관심을 가져야 한다. 셋째, 대화에 대한 교육으로 대화문화를 활성화 시켜야 한다. 넷째, 갈등의 사회화에 큰 역할을 하고 있는 언론매체의 공정한 보도자세가 필요하다.

The purpose of this research is to search for the direction of peace education for conflict resolution. For this purpose, I examined general understanding of conflict, the various causes damaging peace, conflict theory, actual conditions of some main conflicts that are happening in Korea. Based on this analysis, I set the conflict resolution education as the direction of peace education. The contents of peace education for conflict resolution are education for difference, tolerance, critical thinking, social emotional competence. Conflict resolution education is not familiar to us. But I emphasize we should have interest in this education continuously to achieve peace because many conflicts give us pains. In conclusion, I suggest four ideas. First, parents should have a critical role because their nurturing attitude affects their children. Second, school education should make an effort about conflict resolution education. Third, dialogue education is needed because dialogue is main skill resolving conflict. Fourth, mass media should report impartial, unbiased information.
