The purpose of this study was to investigate difference in blood pressure, body composition, and health- and exercise-related fitness among the students majoring in Taekwondo as compared to students majoring in other general students. Students of Male (Taekwondo 34, General 34) and of female subjects(Taekwondo 11, General 11) were divided into two groups. The verify the homogeneity of age was performed. Paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test was conducted to examine the differences in each factor across the groups. The significance level was set at p < 0.05. The results of the present study are as follows. Systolic blood pressure of female students majoring in Taekwondo were significantly closer to the normal range than that of female students majoring in general. furthermore, body fat percentage of Taekwondo department male and female students was also closer to the normal range as compared to the corresponding percentage of male and female general students. In addition, our results confirmed that male and female Taekwondo students were significantly higher or better than students majoring in general subjects in health- and exercise- related fitness factors in all areas except for hand grip strength and flexibility. The results of the present study are meaningful in that this is the first research that compares blood pressure, body composition, and physical fitness of students majoring in Taekwondo and general students. Moreover, this is the first paper to confirm the positive effects of Taekwondo education in college curriculum on physiological and physical indicators of students.
