유아 다문화교육의 현황 및 교육적 지향점

The Current State and Direction of Multicultural Education for Young Children

본 연구의 목적은 최근 유아 다문화 연구와 관련 문헌들을 기초로 우리나라 다문화 가정 유아들의 교육 실태를 점검하고 우리 실정에 맞는 유아기 다문화교육에 관한 교육적 대안을 마련하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 유아 다문화교육의 현실에 대해 다문화 가정의 현황, 다문화 가정 유아들의 유아 교육기관 적응 실태 및 다문화 가정에 대한 교육지원 현황의 측면에서 고찰하였다. 다문화 가정유아들 이 공통적으로 겪고 있는 문제점은 언어능력의 부족, 외모의 차이에 의한 집단따돌림, 정체성의 혼란, 대인관계 형성의 어려움 등으로 나타났다. 이를 토대로 다문화 가정 유아들이 겪고 있는 교육적인 문 제를 해결하기 위한 방안 및 다문화 사회에서의 유아기 다문화교육의 대안을 논의하였다.

The objective of this study is to survey education for young children in Korean multicultural families and to make educational proposals for early childhood multicultural education fit for our current situation based on recent research on young children exposed to multiple cultures and related literature. For this purpose, we examined the current state of multicultural education for young children focused on the current situation of multicultural families, multicultural family children s adaptation to early childhood educational institutions, and educational support to multicultural families. Common problems experienced by multicultural family children were low language skills, bullying for difference in appearance, confusion of identity, difficulty in building interpersonal relations, etc. Based on these results, we discussed solutions for educational problems experienced by multicultural family children, and alternatives to early childhood multicultural education in multicultural society.
